FAQs

What is an eTax Form?

It is an electronic version of the 1099-INT or 1098 Tax Form. If you qualify to receive one or both, you may need the information from the tax form when you file your taxes with the IRS.

What eTax Form(s) will I receive?

The form(s) you receive depend on your account relationship with West Michigan Community Bank. If you’ve earned more than $10, in total, among your interest bearing account(s) in the calendar year, you will receive a 1099-INT Tax Form. If you, as an individual, have paid $600 or more in interest on your mortgage loan(s) in the calendar year, you may receive one or more 1098 Tax Forms. You won't receive an eTax Form if neither of those apply to you.

When will eTax Forms be available for viewing in Online Banking?

We anticipate the forms will be available the last week of January. You will receive an eMail notification when your eTax Forms are available.

If I am the primary account owner, how do I view my year-end eTax Form(s)?

You will receive an eMail notification telling you when your eTax Form is available. Log in to your Online Banking account and navigate to the eDocuments > eStatements/Notices. Locate which account(s) have a 1099-INT Tax Form and/or 1098 Tax Form available and select View or Download.

Please note, the eMail notification doesn’t specify which account the Tax Form(s) are for. If you can’t find a 1099-INT Tax Form or a 1098 Tax Form and you have another Online Banking login, it’s possible the tax form is available under your other Online Banking login.

Can an additional recipient be added to receive year-end eTax Form(s)?

Yes. In Online Banking, the primary account owner will need to navigate to eDocuments > Additional Recipients and:

  1. Create a Username.
  2. Enter the recipient’s eMail address.
  3. Create a password under Access PIN.
  4. Select Save.
  5. Select the Assign Documents button to pick and choose which accounts and/or which specific documents this additional recipient is to receive.
  6. Select Save Settings.
  7. Review eDocument Enrollment Agreement and select I Agree.
  8. Make sure to provide your additional recipients with the Username and Password you created for them.

If I am an additional recipient, how do I view year-end eTax Form(s)?

If you have been set up as an additional recipient by the primary account owner, you will receive an eMail with a secure document attached. To view, you’ll need to enter the Username and Password that the primary account owner created for you.

What if I accidentally deleted the eMail that states my eTax Form(s) are ready?

For primary account owners - The eMail is simply a notification that the form is ready. Your eTax Form is still securely archived in Online Banking.

For additional recipients – Please contact the primary account owner of the eTax Form(s).

How long will eTax Forms be available in Online Banking?

Similar to eStatements, eTax Forms will be available for 18 months.

What if I no longer want to receive my eTax Forms electronically?

You can switch back to paper delivery of tax forms at any time by changing the setting in Online Banking.

  1. Log in to Online Banking.
  2. Select eDocuments.
  3. Select Sign up/Changes.
  4. Select + button on account(s) of choice.
  5. Uncheck the appropriate box(es) for the 1098 Tax Form and/or 1099-INT Tax Form.
  6. Select Save Settings button.

If I am the primary account owner, can I have the eTax Form eMail notification sent to a different eMail address?

Sorry, we can only send to one eMail address. If you need to change the eMail address for all your notification eMails, please contact your local branch or change your eMail in Online Banking by clicking on eDocuments > eMail Settings.

What if something isn't correct on my eTax Form?

Verification of the information, including name spelling and Social Security or Tax Identification Number, is very important on all documents you receive for tax purposes. Any discrepancies should be reported to West Michigan Community Bank right away so it can be corrected.
